What's Our Children's Ministry All About?
Our aim in Children's Ministry is to lead kids into their own close, personal knowledge of God and His Word, and to experience His presence while taking part in bringing His Kingdom to their world.
What are the Age Levels?
The children spend time together in a large group setting as well as in small groups. The small groups are broken up into the following age levels (age by September 1st):
- His Treats (3-5 year olds)
- His Treasures (1st- 4th graders)
- His Torches (5th-7th graders)
What's a Typical Day at Children's Church Look Like?
Each child will experience similar blessings as found in adult church, but on a kid's level. They will learn about a big God who is passionately waiting to share Himself with them. He or she will experience worship, fellowship, creative learning times, and will discover how to spend quiet time with God as well as be introduced to ministry opportunities amongst themselves and the larger church.
Each week parents/caregivers will be given a hand out describing an overview of what their children are being taught that week and also some follow up questions to spark discussion and for when they go home and throughout the rest of the week.
What are some Fun Activities to be Expected Throughout the Year?
These vary from seasonal activities such as the Fall Kick-Off Carnival, Christmas party, and Easter special to special puppet ministries, world mission visitors, and inviting special guest speakers to share on particular ministry subjects (e.g. Worship).
What's the Vision for Children's Ministry?
We invite the children to be a part of the vision in the church as they are the generation to follow in our footsteps. Remember the young lad with the bread and fish? (John 6:1-14) Some of these kids are carrying provision for thousands. They may be small but their harvest is great. There is no “Junior Holy Spirit.” We believe the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in all of us, and we want to give these children the same opportunity to learn, grow, and experience all God has for them.
Meet Our Children's Pastor, Crystal Givens:
"Children hold in their hand a very special key to the heart of the Father. He never turns them away but rather exalts them and uses them as the perfect example of what His Kingdom looks like (Matthew 19:14).
One of my greatest desires is to be a mother and teacher to thousands of children. I (along with you) have the greatest privilege of raising up godly sons and daughters that will follow after the Lord with all their hearts. I want them to go above and beyond what we are able to do. My prayer is that the next generation will jump off of our shoulders, not start from scratch, nor from a foundation but from an established Kingdom.
My vision is not to teach information but to teach children. I also want to give them opportunity to be apart of the teaching. I want God’s Word to come alive to them so that their understanding will turn into God experiences in the same way that it did for David, Moses, Joshua, Esther, Paul and Jesus. I plan on setting up outreaches, programs, festivals, etc. to expand the children’s ministry from not only in the church but also reaching the surrounding neighborhood and their own.
I have taught and loved on children ever since I was still a child. I came to Life Church for the first time in April (2013) and soon after that applied for the Children’s Pastor position. I already had met several of the people here and immediately felt at home. I’m excited to see what the years bring as I’ve now stepped into a leadership position, right where God wants me.
Besides being a children’s leader, I’m a missionary. If you know me for very long you’ll see why I consider myself at least half Mexican or Latina. I speak Spanish and can’t ever get away from my love for their culture. My ultimate dream is to go to Cuba someday, go back to Mexico, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Argentina and also visit any other Central and South American countries."
